This is how Hong Kong students/people learn putonghua. But, what this professor said is really not right/correct at all. That's why Hong Kong people have poor speaking and pronunciation in Mandarin. This professor should not teach people this way - using Pronunciation Dictionary to learn speaking Mandarin. It is wrong.

Sometimes, we really need to choose one side either YES or NO. There is definitely NO MAYBE ( to choose from ) FINALLY.

Today, I just realized that we do not use the black/whiteboard(s) anymore in college or university. Professors and instructors really use PowerPoint instead of writing on the board. Actually, I believe only the professors who teach Maths will use and write on the board nowadays during Maths classes. Blackboards are useless nowadays in college.
